The ARC of the Capital Area is seeking volunteers to serve on their Special Events Committee and Arts Studio Committee. The Arts Studio taps local artists and community volunteers to teach all aspects of the arts to Arc’s clients. Catholic Charities of Central Texas needs more mentors. As a volunteer with the Young Parents Succeed program, you’ll mentor single mothers or fathers age 16 to 25 and provide emotional support and guidance for their futures. It is ideal for the mentor to attend 6 classes with the young parents held each Saturday. Volunteers are asked to give a three-month commitment and to communicate with the young parents weekly.

Family Eldercare is now looking for Fan Drive Volunteers to collect donations of money and/or fans, pick up and/or deliver fans, and lend administrative support in the office. This program provides fans to low-income older adults, people with disabilities and families with children who suffer from the summer heat. In 2007, over 7,100 fans and 74 window air conditioners were provided to Central Texans in need. Volunteers are needed for one-day and longer assignments during the duration of the Fan Drive starting in June and continuing through August 2008. The YMCA needs your help soliciting funds in the YMCA’s Partner of Youth Campaign. Ask individuals, companies, colleagues, friends, family and anyone you think would be able to assist with a financial contribution to assist the 10-week long campaign.
