The Austin Museum of Art is looking for a few special Volunteers to assist in the development department. Opportunities include making thank you calls to new and rejoining members, preparing membership packets for mailings, filing, and addressing and preparing membership mailings for fulfillment, etc. Located in the heart of downtown Austin, AMOA's office hours are from 9AM to 5PM Monday through Friday but volunteers shift times can be very flexible. Family Eldercare seeks Guardian Advocate volunteers to provide advocacy and ongoing direct service to low-income, disabled or elderly clients by making monthly or semi-monthly visits to clients’ residences. This activity helps maintain the quality of client treatment in a nursing or group home with the intent to prevent client abuse or neglect. Time commitment is 2-4 hours monthly for at least one year. Lyons Garden is looking for Computer Instructors to teach people how to use the internet and how to send and receive email. Having both Spanish and English language skills is helpful but not required. It is preferable if volunteers can serve on weekdays but they're willing to work with your schedule. Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) is looking for a Friend InDeed. MADD is more than moms, it’s all of us: fathers, grandparents, neighbors, business people, teenagers, young adults and children working to end drunk driving, support victims and prevent underage drinking. Through it’s Friends InDeed program, MADD offers a wide range of volunteer opportunities such as victim services, youth programs, adult education programs, public policy, administrative support, fundraising and event assistance and community leadership. Hearts of Hospice Volunteers are needed at SouthernCare, Inc. Hospice volunteers provide companionship support for patients in the form of visiting, reading, writing letters or cards, friendly phone calls, making special handcrafted items. They also provide support for family members by assisting with shopping or household maintenance, providing short respite relief, visits or phone calls to caregivers or family members from a compassionate friend. The time commitment depends on the individual you are assisting; a volunteer may be needed daily, weekly, monthly, or on an as-needed basis. VSA Arts of Texas invites you to serve as an Art Class Assistant. They are providing a 2-hour art class for blind and visually impaired teenagers who are attending an Independent Living Skills Training through the Department of Blind Services.
